Wine with Writers is back and this time we’re hanging out in the Philadelphia area. We’re bringing five indie authors to discuss Romance, Realism and the Portrayal of African American Women in Popular Fiction at Towne Book Center Wine Bar and Cafe in Collegeville, PA. Join Nia Forrester, Jacinta Howard, Lily Java and me with moderator Ashley M. Coleman of WriteLaughDream on Saturday, March 25 at 5 PM.
What is Wine with Writers? Almost two years ago, Nia Forrester reached out to me with an idea of connecting a group of indie authors and the awesome people that read our work. Her desire to discuss books over wine and finger food wasn't unique as oftentimes wine, books and conversation go hand in hand, but what came of it was pretty special and memorable. The first Wine with Writers event taking place at a cool little art gallery in Washington, DC on beautiful autumn day.
To this day, I remember many of those that came out, with some even driving a few hours just to spend the afternoon with Nia, Lily Java, Xyla Turner and me. It was such a wonderful experience to shake hands, exchange hugs, and just... connect.
Since then, a couple of things happened. Nia moved to Philly and one of my favorite indie bookstores added the first and only wine bar in Pennsylvania. Y'all know how much I love Philly and want to show the city off as often as possible, so I called her and told her we had to have a Wine with Writers event here in PA. We have a few incredible authors joining us: Philly's own Ashley Coleman is an author of Love on Purpose and creator of WriteLaughDream. Lily Java is a women's fiction, contemporary romance and suspense and will be there discussing her latest Blackbirds. Jacinta Howard is the author of some of my favorite novels, Happiness in Jersey and Finding Kennedy and will be there discussing her newest release Blind Expectations. Nia Forrester is coming to chat about Lorna Terry of her novel The Fall. And me? I'll be there with my novel Love Is and the unexpected path Diane Collins took during her journey and the effect it ultimately had on those around her, including another character of mine… her daughter Paige.
Of course there are many other books we'll likely bring up (beyond the ones we've personally penned), as the conversation is about Romance, Realism and the Portrayal of African-American Women in Popular Fiction. Come find a seat, grab a glass and join us. Can't wait to see you March 25th!
Admission to discussion and signing is free. Light refreshments will be served. Wine available for purchase. Don’t wait till the last minute to RSVP because space is limited. Click here for details and to RSVP: https://winewithwriters0317.eventbrite.com/
You're also invited to join us before the event at a special wine tasting and meet & greet. Between 4:00 - 5:00 PM, sample wine and mingle with our featured authors. Wine tasting tickets are $15.00 per person (must be 21 years or older), which includes the sampling of five preselected wines, hors d'oeuvres and gift bag.
